August 5, 1934 – April 21, 2022
Jean’s battle with her many health issues came to a final conclusion in a most peaceful way. At age 87, she passed just after her noon meal, while sitting in her favorite easy chair.
Jean was born to Blanch and W. Ray Coyle in Alta, Iowa. The family eventually moved to Chula Vista, California where Jean spent her childhood and graduated from Chula Vista High. She went on to receive a Master’s Degree from the University of Southern California. She then moved to Santa Maria where she raised her children, Jeannie Matter of Santa Maria and John Matter of Turlock. Jean then spent a few years moving around the Western United States, stopping briefly in Henderson, Nevada, which we all know is code for Las Vegas. Next, she moved to Turlock in 2011 to be close to her son John, daughter-in-law Jennifer, and her three grandchildren Kaila, Karli and Kyle, who filled the last years of her life with joy. She was proud to be associated with Eastern Star, PEO, as well as the Church of Latter-day Saints.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm at the Turlock Masonic Lodge on May 1st. The address is 108 S. Thor St. Use the elevator or stairs to access the second floor.
