September 16, 1937 – May 5, 2020
Jean Rose Marie Meier, 82 years old, went home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2020 from complications from a major stroke.
Jean was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Eugene and Anna Marie Winckler. Grand Rapids is where she met and married the love of her life, Dallas Meier. Jean became a Navy wife. In the first 16 years of marriage Jean lived in Florida, Minnesota, Washington, Virginia and California.
After Dallas’ retirement from the Navy, Jean worked side by side with Dallas as Apartment Managers for some very large apartment complexes in Sunnyvale, CA, Fremont, CA, Foster City, CA, Fullerton, CA and even a short time in Denver, CO. In 1995, Jean and Dallas retired to Hilmar, California where they spent time enjoying their four grandsons. Their favorite pastimes were attending youth baseball and football games.
In 2003, Jean’s heart broke as she laid Dallas to rest. Jean remained in Hilmar and became very active caring for her neighbors, friends and family. Jean attended Monte Vista Chapel and New Life Christian Center. She always was available to help cook and provide meals to neighbors or for a guest at Turlock Gospel Mission. She often hosted Christmas and her joy came from having her entire family under one roof. Jean enjoyed the road trips, cruises and all the gatherings that she spent with her sisters and family. Jean was a caring sister and friend, sacrificing mother, loving grandmother and affectionate great grandmother. She will be truly missed but never forgotten.
Jean is survived by her children: Bobbi (Chad) Parker of Hollister, CA; Kim Ludtke of Hilmar, CA; Steve (Shelley) Meier of Turlock, CA; her grandsons: Trevor, Travis, Alex and Brent, and six great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters: Joyce Williams of Mountain View, CA; Darlene Rogers of Himar, CA; Eileen Morrison of Keyes, CA; Lorna Hancock of Oregon; and her brother George Winckler of Grand Rapids, MN.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dallas Meier, son-in-law David Ludtke, parents Eugene and Anna Marie Winckler, sister Mary Ellen Winckler and brother Jerry Winckler.
Jean was laid to rest with her husband Dallas at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
