April 1941 ~ March 2020
Joao was born in Biscoitos Sao Jorge, Portugal to Joao and Sofia Avila and passed away at the age of 78. He immigrated to the US in 1975 and worked most on dairies most of his life. Joao appreciated Portuguese culture and would attend bull fights and festas. He treasured time spent with his friends and family, and loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Maria Avila; children John (Angie) Avila, and Rui (Jennifer) Avila; and sister Maria Conceiao. He was preceded in death by his parents Joao and Sofia Avila and siblings Francisco, Antonio and Jose.
Due to the current coronavirus prevention recommendations, services will be held for immediate family. Viewing will be at Allen Mortuary on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 3:00-5:00p.m. Mass will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 10:00a.m. with burial to follow at Hilmar Cemetery.
