John Charles Engel

October 1939 ~ December 2020

John Engel was born in Turlock, California to John and Ruth (Lane) Engel in October of 1939. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1958. He farmed since the age 3 and was known as “Farmer John”. John was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

John is survived by his loving wife Quilla (Kniffen) Engel; daughter Julie Genereux; sister Audie Dahlgren; brother Pete Engel; three grandchildren John Lewis, Valerie Genereux, and Nicholas Genereux; and his grandchild Ian born September 3, 2020.

A Celebration of life is pending for a later date.

I am proud to be Johns cousin. He was such a nice guy. He was indeed a hard worker. Working in the fields or on a piece of equipment always. He was a person who cared. He will be missed by family and friends.

Uncle John was one of a kind. Full of humor, whit and lots of LOVE. If you ever needed help and he could give it, you had it. You could tell when he was trying to pull one over on you by the twinkle in his eyes.He will be missed by so many.

My Uncle John was a fine man. He was a hard worker and loved his family very much. He was thoughtful, generous, and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed.
