John Harvey Nelson went home to be with the Lord at the age of 95 in Riverbank, California. He was cherished by his family and left a legacy of character and love. Harvey was known by those who loved him as Shorty. Harvey was a heavy equipment operator. He was a charter member of the Church of Christ and was faithful to attend the service at 500 Crane St. Turlock, CA. Late in life he worked for various ranchers up in Del Puerto Canyon, building and putting up fences, he also built dams with his D6 caterpillar. He also oversaw an alfalfa hay operation in Tule Lake, California. He traveled over 150 miles from Tule Lake, CA., to meet with the Church of Christ in Redding, CA.
Harvey is preceded in death by his wife Zora Bell Nelson, his parents George and Ina Mae Nelson, his brothers, Oliver, Charles, Maurice, Howard, Norman, and his sisters Lois and Dorothy.
Harvey is survived by his seven children, Richard of Carson City, NV, Raymond (Kari) of Placerville, CA, Rodney (Richelle) of Hughson, CA, Robert (Gaye) of Hilmar, CA, Roberta (Ralph) of Newberg, OR, Roger (Cheryl) of Riverbank, CA, and Roy (Machelle) of Jacksonville, TX. John had 24 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Clyde of Gooding, Idaho.
Harvey was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend; he will be remembered and loved always.
