John Michael Mercado

John Mercado, 69, of Turlock, CA, passed away on November 23, 2023. He was born on March 2, 1954, in Glenwood Springs, CO. John, also known as Michael, was a beloved member of his community and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Michael graduated from Delano High School and attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and San Jose State. He had a passion for sports, particularly the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants. He would often gather with his loved ones to cheer on his favorite teams. Michael’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and his family. His quick wit and sense of humor brought laughter and joy to every room he entered. He had a knack for telling jokes that would leave everyone in stitches.
Michael is survived by his brothers, Robert (Lucy) Mercado, Mark (Patricia) Mercado, Mark Anthony Mercado, and his sister, Mary Ellen Vasquez. He is also survived by his daughters, Jennifer Jepsen and Melanie Barragan, as well as his seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Michael leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Miguel Mercado, his mother, Beatrice Urueta, his sister, Stella Mercado, and his nephew, Joseph Vasquez.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Allen Mortuary in Turlock, CA.
A gathering will be held in memory of Michael to celebrate his life (details to follow once finalized). Family and friends are invited to come together to share stories, laughter, and memories. Michael’s light will continue to shine through the love and laughter he brought to those around him.
