June B. Johnson, 93 years of age, passed away at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, CA on Saturday, September 9th, with family by her side.
June is survived by her son, Glenn Johnson (and wife Melissa Thoeny), daughter, Judy Hanson (and husband Bryan Hanson), granddaughters, Madison Hopkins and Grace Hanson, brother, Johnny Buchanan and several nieces and nephews. June is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Johnson, and her sisters Bonnie Jean Trowbridge and Betsy Crook.
June was born February 18th, 1930 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Viola and Mike Buchanan, the third of four children. She graduated from Blytheville High School where she served as head majorette in her senior year. She received a two-year degree in business in Little Rock, AR. In 1952, June married Benjamin Johnson, her life partner in fun and adventure for almost 69 years. Their journey took them to Georgia, Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Missouri, and finally to California. June was highly active in her church communities, social organizations, and working as a teacher’s assistant in special education. Her love of adventure and the outdoors was expressed in the many hiking, biking, backpacking and camping trips that she took with family and friends.
Most of all, we would like you to know that June lived life to the fullest with a determination to demonstrate her love of Jesus, with charity in her heart, laughter in her soul, creativity in her mind and a strong-willed drive to find the next adventure. There will be no public services.
