Linda Annette Seymour (Stallone) August 19, 1951 - December 9, 2018

Linda Annette Seymour (Stallone)

August 1951 – December 2018

In the Spring of 1952, a glamorous Austrian woman with dark hair and green eyes, watched as her eight-month old baby girl, Linda receive the last rites.  As she cried, a miracle occurred when little Linda opened the same green eyes as her Mama and thrived for 66 more years. On December 9, 2018 at 3:35 am, Linda Annette Stallone Seymour closed her green eyes for the last time and had to leave her beloved Mama.

Linda Annette Stallone was born on August 19, 1951 at McPheeter’s Hospital in Modesto, California. She was the only child of the late Dominic “Mim” Stallone (1910-1993) and Margaretha (Kleber) Stallone. From the time she was born, her charm and beauty would beguile all lives she touched. Her heart and her unwavering compassion and devotion will be her legacy. She was a self-proclaimed Mama’s girl and loved her big sister Sonja whom she always referred to as her Sonie Bologna. The highlight of her childhood was a 1958 visit to her Mother’s native Austria where she met all her Mother’s 12 siblings and instantly bonded with her Grandmother Maria, whom she called Omama.

Linda attended El Vista School, Sylvan Middle School, and graduated from Thomas Downey High School class of 1969. She briefly attended Modesto Junior College, before moving to San Francisco for one year where she worked for an insurance company. Her father Mim moved to the City to watch over her and walk her home from work each night. In 1971, after another visit to Austria she went to work as a bookkeeper for Jewett Motors which later became A & D Yamaha in Modesto. Linda could surprise the world on how much she knew about motorcycles.

On August 10, 1980 she married Michael Seymour in her Mother’s backyard in Modesto. The highlight and most significant moment of her life came in 1983 when she gave birth to her son David. He would remain her light for the next 35 years. She always wondered how she got a child with such a small nose and would always sing to him “Davey, Davey Crockett King of the Cutie Pies, born on a Friday at 10:39, cutest little boy she ever did see.” David too, like Harry Potter, has his Mother’s eyes. David was followed two years later in 1985 by another son, Matthew who she adored and who resembled her father.

In 1988, Linda started Linda’s Bookkeeping and Tax Service out of her home in Turlock. Her two longest and loyal clients Beth Lute and Wilma Ramsey mourn along with the family. She was a hands-on devoted mother, even volunteering in the classroom. She cared for her father until his death on October 26, 1993, and it remained the most significant death of her life, though her heart was always with her Mama.

Linda was a devout Catholic, though was a registered Democrat and proud of it. She attended All Saints Catholic Church in Turlock and was a devoted member of the religious retreat “Journey in Christianity,” which she volunteered for and served many years as a local area coordinator. For the church, she taught catechism for 25 years. For two years beginning on September 6, 2014, she was the founding President of the Queen of Faith Young Ladies Institute (YLI). From 2016-2017 she served as Past President. She was also a brief member of the Turlock Chapter of the Soroptimists.

Left to mourn the loss of this kind and gentle soul is the lady who lives in her eyes, her irreplaceable Mama, Margaret Shields. She leaves her husband of 38 years, Michael Seymour, who was very lucky to have had such a caring and understanding wife. Her heart remains with her reason for living, her son David Seymour. She also leaves her son Matthew (Alejandra) Seymour who comforted his mother with his presence at the end. A caring sister to the end, Linda is survived by her big sister Sonja (Steven) Sher, her niece Teresa (Adam) Fiss, and great-nephew and niece Lance and Juliana Fiss. Linda leaves an uncle Englebert (Theresia) Kleber and an aunt Anna Kleber, all of Austria, and Antonetta Stallone of Texas. She was loved by her sister of the heart of 63 years, Denyse Miller and a bonus son Alejandro Acosta who both stood vigil at Linda’s bedside at the end. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and several cousins.

Almost everyone who met Linda was her friend, and though she loved all of them, the family would like to acknowledge Sharon Henning, who loved her for nearly 50 years and was in the room when her beloved David came into this world. Her other close circle of friends includes: Alice Perales, Carol Fairbairn, Sally Wilson, Robin Wheeler, and Patricia Kuzmiak.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her second father Richard Shields, her grandparents Giovanni and Antonia Stallone and Josef and Maria Kleber. She was further preceded by several uncles and aunts, her cousins Antoinette Stallone and Antoinette Stallone Dickerson. Of the friends she lost none were more special than Patricia Campbell, Kevin Wiensz, Joseph Bruggman, and Bonnie Cook.

Help us celebrate the life of Linda at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at All Saints Catholic Church at 4040 McKenna Dr., Turlock. Officiating will be Fr. John Fitzgerald, Fr. William McDonald, Fr. Jose Ledesma, and Pastor Adrian Condit, with a reception to follow. Burial is private.

Linda was severely allergic to flowers, so in lieu of flowers, please make all donations to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356 and most importantly, please remember NO PINK, Linda’s signature color was yellow.

As she battled the illness which would ultimately take her life, her courage was admirable and her will strong. She always put other’s needs above her own. As her life-force waned, she held on, one hand reaching up to her Daddy, the other hand on earth with her Mama, and her heart and mind with her David. Her final task was to place Mama’s hand in that of David’s and join her Daddy, knowing her spirit would remain with her two-favorite people, and further knowing they both now had the most vigilant guardian angel.

Once you have submitted your condolence, it will be approved by our staff during office hours, then published on your loved one’s page.

I will always remember the way Linda welcomed me to All Saints University Catholic Church. There were no platitudes, it was a straight forward “welcome to your new church”. She also told me about YLI and invited me to join. Our family has moved has moved to new communities several times and and people welcome us to their church.
