Loretta Koernig Edminster June 13, 1927 - December 11, 2023

Longtime Central Valley resident Loretta Koernig Edminster passed away December 11, 2023 in Hilmar, California. Loretta Roslyn Rothman was born June 13, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, the eldest child of Lawrence Rothman and Rae Siegel Rothman. Loretta and her family moved to San Francisco in 1947.

She met and married Bob Koernig and they moved to Hilmar in the autumn of 1966 and began operating a small dairy on Short Avenue. After selling the dairy in 1981, Loretta and Bob built a new home adjacent to the dairy site, where they lived until Bob’s death in late 1987.

Loretta started working as a rural letter carrier in 1969, delivering mail for 20 years, retiring in 1989. Soon after retiring she began dating Bert Edminster of Livingston. They married in the summer of 1990 and lived in Livingston until Bert’s death in June, 1994.

Loretta served as a 4H volunteer for years, teaching sewing skills.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Toni Kipnis and Alice Rothman, and husbands Bob Koernig and Bert Edminster.

She is survived by her son, Randal “Gus” Koernig (Glenda) of Mesa, Arizona, grandchildren Angela Farr of Carlsbad, California, Erika Koernig (Vaughn Myler) of American Fork, Utah, AJ Koernig (Marian) of Gilbert, Arizona, Olivia Holden (Ben) of Billings, Montana, Rachel Rands (Spencer) of Carlsbad, California, Maggie Stocker (Kris Hill) of Phoenix, Arizona, Bob Koernig and Ted Koernig of Billings, Montana, and Andy Koernig of Sandy, Utah, 21 great-grandchildren, and former daughter-in-law Vickie Koernig of Apache Junction, Arizona.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 16 at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 18 at North Hilmar Cemetery, 8500-8744 Tegner Road, Hilmar.
