Maria V. Hernandez
May 28, 1928- April 28, 2024
Maria was born in Mexico to Manuel and Altagracia Valle-Velazquez and passed away at 95 in Merced, California. She worked at Del Monte Cannery until her retirement at 64. Maria was a kind, loving, and strong woman who loved the Lord and her family. She spent her days reading her Bible and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was everything to her.
Maria’s hobbies included gardening and knitting. She would wake early every morning to tend to her garden and talk to her flowers as she watered and cared for them, she also made it a point of knitting blankets for the newborns in the family.
Maria’s legacy lives on through her children Carlos (Martha) Velazquez, Matilde Martinez, and Elsa (Carlos)Reynoso, her grandchildren Maria, Marco, Angelica, Deanna, Erika, Beatriz, Rudy, and Josh, and her seventeen great-grandchildren. Her love and influence extend to numerous great-great-grandchildren, a testament to the strength and unity of her large, loving family. She also leaves behind her large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, and her grandson, Juan Carlos Velasquez.
A Memorial Service will be held at Allen Mortuary on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 10 a.m. in Turlock, CA., followed by a celebration of life from 12 p.m. to 5p.m. at Carnegie Art Center, also in Turlock, CA.
