Marlene Broddie of Twain Harte, CA has passed away at the age of 87. Marlene was born in Turlock, CA to Myron and Elvera Bothun. She went to and graduated from Turlock High School, then met and married Richard Broddie, who was stationed at Treasure Island. Marlene and Richard were married for 66 years. In 1983, they moved to Twain Harte and Marlene retired after 30 years. She took up golf and played with the Twain Harte Niners. She loved to walk around the golf course and was known as “the bird lady.” Her husband retired in 1998. They loved to travel together in their RV. In 2003, they traveled over 8,000 miles across the United States. Every October they would RV travel the Central Coast of California. It was a tradition with her children and then her grandchildren to go to Pinecrest every Memorial and Labor Day weekend. Marlene and Richard were associated with the Elks & Sirs RV groups.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 66 years Richard Broddie, her children Kathy Wall (Mickey) of Turlock, CA, Steven Broddie of Athens, TN, and Deborah VanWaesberghe of Winston, OR, her siblings Don Bothun (Jean) of Turlock, CA and Jeanne Jensen of Carlton, OR, as well as 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Joanne Barry and child Marilyn Broddie.
A Funeral will be held at Allen Mortuary on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 starting at 10am.
