Marvin Ghan was born in Fort Hood Texas July 20, 1957 to Elvin Gene Ghan and Betty Laverne Ghan and departed this earth peacefully, surrounded by loved ones August 28, 2024 in Waterford, California. Marvin was the bravest, hardest working and compassionate soul a person could meet. He was talented and humble, and was unable to be confined by a label. Marvin was able to make a friend of anyone he met. He was a selfless and caring Husband, Father, Family Member and Friend.
Marvin moved with his Family to Stockton and later to Modesto. He was a cub scout and attended Beard Elementary School, making many lifelong friends. He played drums in the Marching Band, Football, Baseball at Davis High School in Modesto, CA, graduating in 1975. After high school Marvin moved to San Diego, CA, returning to Modesto in 1980, Marvin had his Daughter Tearsa Ghan with his first wife Catherine Openshaw in 1982; he was a dedicated father who raised his daughter with unconditional love and support. In 2003 Marvin met the love of his life Colette Anne Turley, marrying in 2007 with love, commitment, dedication for his family for the next 17 years, sharing their children Tearsa Ghan, Corey Harden and Niki Dodd.
Marvin worked for the City of Modesto and Yosemite Community College District for a combined 30 years as a Diesel Mechanic. He had a great love for music, dancing, adventure, and travel. He loved to help people in any way he could. He was an avid horseman; team roping, camping and trail riding with his wife, family and friends in the mountains or by the beach. Marvin shared these loves in his influence with his children, nieces and grandchildren, taking them to concerts for birthdays, trail rides and gymkhanas.
Throughout his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease Marvin never lost his integrity, gracious spirit or sense of humor. He would not want to see anyone mourn his loss but rather enjoy all of the memories of good times and adventures that they shared together. Marvin is survived and loved by his Wife (Colette Ghan), Children Tearsa Ghan(Resham), Cory Harden (Veronica), Niki Dodd (Matt), Mother (Betty Ghan), Brother Gary Ghan (Cathy), nieces & nephews, grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many other loved family members and friends.
