Mary Correa September 28, 1925 - February 24, 2019

Sept. 1925 – Feb 2019

Mary Louise Correa, a San Francisco native, with 28 years in the transportation business, she picked up the nickname “Effie” apparently while with Lesher-Muirhead Oldsmobile dealership in San Francisco.  She worked her way to assistant office manager over 18 years, then at her husband’s Body Repair shop in Castro Valley, and then dispatching at Anchor Distributing Company in San Leandro for a spell until they retired to Hilmar, CA in 1989.

Mary played golf into her late 70’s. She and Bill were avid SF 49er fans.   Both were deeply patriotic, especially to his Marines service (“˜Semper Fi’=“˜Semper Fideles’= always faithful- ).  She did not like sitting idle; she had to do something, and was thrilled in her part-time work selling Nick Sciabica & Sons Olive Oil when providing “˜tastings’ at regional grocery stores and food faires. She also volunteered many days-a-week at Emanuel Medical Center, and occasionally in the medical filing dept. – but primarily her fun time was in the Auxiliary’s Gift Shop since she was a “˜born saleswoman’- right up to six days before her death.

She was a devoted Catholic and loved her parish family at Holy Rosary Church in Hilmar.  She will be sorrowfully missed by all of us who knew her.

She kept in memory and prayer for all those who have died:  husband William “Bill” Correa, infant son Ronald Edward White, and ALL her loving friends she remembered most fondly.

I was so sad to hear of Mary’s passing. I met her years ago and have thought of her as a sweet dear friend. She was a very giving person and always shared with others. I will miss our phone conversations and occasional lunches. …May she rest in peace……Sincerely your friend Debbie
