In 1961, Mary settled on the family farm in Hilmar, where she built a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family and community. She cherished the beauty of farm life, where she and her family created lasting memories.
For over 20 years, Mary dedicated herself to shaping young minds as a Special Education teacher at Gustine Unified School District. Her patience, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her students made her a treasured mentor and advocate for those with special needs.
Beyond her career, Mary had a heart for service and community. She was a devoted Boy Scout leader for many years, guiding and inspiring young scouts with her leadership, encouragement, and wisdom. Additionally, she shared her deep faith by teaching CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) classes, helping children grow in their spiritual journey.
Mary had a deep love for traveling, embracing new cultures and experiences with an adventurous spirit. Whether exploring far-off destinations or simply cherishing time with loved ones, she found joy in every journey.
A woman of faith, Mary was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and an active participant in the Young Ladies Institute #223, where she found a community of sisterhood and service. Her kindness, generosity, and steadfast faith were an inspiration to those around her.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William, and their dear sons, John G. Cox, Robert C. Cox, and Michael W. Cox. Though she faced great loss, her resilience and love never wavered.
She is survived by her loving son, Kelly J. Cox, and daughter Lorie A. Guinard, along with her eight cherished grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary’s legacy of love, strength, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
