Michael Frances Joseph Vierra lost his battle with cancer at the age of 68.
On May 14, 1953 Michael was born to parents John G. (Jack) Vierra and Louise Vierra. He was raised on the family dairy where he later bought into and started his own business.
Mike was one of the great football players at Hilmar High School. He was a three year varsity starter – 1969-70-71. He had speed and stamina and still holds a track record for high hurdles.
Mike was a devoted father to his children. He supported all of their sporting activities, dance recitals, school and church events, 4-H and FFA dairy shows.
He was a member of the Mid-Valley Water Ski Club, Hilmar-Irwin-Stevinson Lions Club, Stevinson Volunteer Firemen, lifetime member of the Merced County Sheriff’s Posse and founding member of the 4×4 In Motion Jeep Club.
Mike moved to New Mexico in 1994 where he started a new dairy and raised his family. He was instrumental in introducing Holstein Shows into the Southern New Mexico County Fairs.
After retiring, Mike returned home to the family farm in Stevinson.
Michael is survived by his three children: Cassidy (Charles) Hammond, Bradley (Ginnie) Vierra and Kristopher Vierra. His grandchildren Stran, Hudson, Brooks and Kason. His long time companion Debbie Hutchins, sisters Joanne Fuss (Bob Woodruff), Pat (John) Baptista and Teresa (David) Ganger, brothers Patrick (Sandie) Vierra, John Vierra, Greg (Shirley) Vierra and Raymond (Nancy) Vierra. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents John G. and Louise Vierra.
Visitation will be January 20, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Allen Mortuary. Rosary and mass will be celebrated on January 21, 2022 at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hilmar.

My condolences to the FAMILY, I’ll have many memory’s forever like the 6th grade Birthday party Jack and Louise had for Mike way back in the 60’s, what a time we had there, to summer time fun at the lake. Mike was one in a million and such a big heart, he’ll be missed dearly ! Looking forward to seeing you again in heaven ..cornutts!
