1940 – 2020
Nicacio (Nick) Lucero, 80 passed away at his home in Turlock on Wednesday August 5, 2020 surrounded by family. He was born in Puerta Luna, New Mexico on April 19, 1940 and moved to Turlock, California in 1944. He attended school in Turlock and lettered in Football, Wrestling and Track at Turlock High School (class of 1958). Upon graduation, he became an apprentice and full-time journeyman and contractor for Flooring and Floor coverings, which he did for over 54 years.
Nick was married to Norma (Jo) for fifty-eight years. He and Jo worked together, lived, and raised their children with the values and beliefs they held true to. His children will remember him as a father who was committed to his family and encouraged them to pursue their goals. He was dedicated and loved to support not only his children and grandchildren, but also others so they could succeed in sports, 4-H, and FFA. Nick was known for his straightforward approach, can do attitude, and work ethic. He always found a way to lend a helping hand and give of his time and energy and was true to his Catholic faith. Nick was truly respected and loved by all who knew him.
Nick is survived by his loving wife Jo Lucero, and his 3 children: Steven Lucero (Bonnie), Sherry Johns (Nathan), and Aaron Lucero (Christin), and 5 grandchildren: Caitlin Johns (Sarah), Ty Johns, Morgan Johns, Alaura Lucero and Ashlan Lucero, and one great grandchild Steven Heiberger, and his siblings: Ricardo Lucero of Turlock and Carmen Clemens of El Dorado Hills. August 12, 2020 at 1:18 amRon and I are so sorry to hear about the loss of Nick. We were classmates and graduated with the Class of 1958, Turlock High School. He attended school with Ron for the entire time in Turlock.
He was admired for the time he put in his work. It’s time for him to retire now and rest in peace.
He may be gone, but never forgotten.
