Pargan S. Samra passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, January 19th, 2023, at the age of 90. He has forever reunited with his beloved wife of 75 years, Rashpal K. Samra.
Pargan is survived by his three children, Baldev Samra (Bedi), Gurbax Samra (Rana) and Sukhvinder Dhillon (Bhole). Seven grandchildren, Pindy Samra, Pardeep Samra, Sonia Samra, Simi Dhillon, Mandeep Samra, Gagan Dhillon and Sharan Sandhu. Nine great-grandchildren, Yasmeen Sunner, Selena Sunner, Namya Sunner, Imanya Sunner, Jeevan Takhar, Gavin Takhar, Aleena Sandhu, Asha Dulay and Aarvin Sandhu.
Pargan’s bold yet welcoming personality was contagious to everyone he met. He was heavily involved in the local Sikh and Punjabi community and spent countless years of his life doing “seva” (selfless service). He played an important role in the development of the Peach St. Sikh temple in Livingston, CA. He served many years as President of the temple’s committee and would work hand in hand with the Indian Embassy of San Francisco to set up Visa camps to help NRI’s and non-NRI’s get their visa so they could visit their families in India. His hard work and dedication earned him many awards and recognition. He took such pride in the work that he did. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time in his garden, watching old Bollywood movies and singing along to classics. He loved to host his family and friends with an occasional glass of whiskey. Pargan loved his family and would go to great lengths to make sure they were always taken care of. His relationship with his wife was nothing that could be put into words. Their love was so pure and timeless.
He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He touched the lives of many and will truly be missed. Baba ji, you will always remain in our hearts.
