Patrick J. Garcia April 8, 1943 - March 27, 2023

Date of Service

April 4, 2023

Patrick J. Garcia, 79, passed away quietly surrounded by family on Monday, March 27th in his home in Turlock.

Born on April 8th, 1943 in Plainview, Texas, Patrick was a precocious boy who loved the outdoors and working with his hands. Though he was never much for book-learning, he was a great student of life and always sought new challenges in his professional career. He was a roadworker, a long-haul truck driver, co-founder of a family-operated construction firm, and an operating engineer.

In his capacity as an engineer working underground construction, he laid the foundations for many successful businesses across the state of California. However, it was his work as a father, laying the foundations for the successes of his children, that he truly cherished. He was a hard, prickly man, who loved who and what he loved and cared for little else, but none who felt that love would deny the warmth of his heart and the depth of his caring.

The loss of his wife on March 8th, 2019 was a terrible blow to him. He had struggled with his health for many years prior to passing, surviving several strokes and a litany of medical procedures, but he endured it all for his children, and their children as well. As he laid in the hospital for the final time, his only wish was to be home with his family. By the grace of God and the earnest efforts of medical staff and family this wish was granted. In the same month, at the same time of day, and in the same spot in their home, Patrick was finally reunited with his beloved wife of 59 years, Wilma Garcia.

His surviving family invites any interested party to join in celebrating his life with a viewing at Allen Mortuary on Monday, April 3rd from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. A rosary will be held at 12:30 P.M. the following day, April 4th, at Sacred Heart Church in Turlock, CA. The rosary will immediately precede a mass held in his honor, and interment of his mortal remains will be held at Turlock Memorial Park at 2:30 P.M.
