Richard “Rick” Whittaker was born in Galesburg, IL on May 12, 1949 to Bernard and Rosemary Whittaker. Rick passed away on September 7, 2021 in Turlock, CA.
He is survived by wife, Connie Whittaker; son, Travis (Leslie) Whittaker; daughter, Tara Carreon; son, Ricky Whittaker; daughter, Tasha (Brandon) Humphrey; daughter, Nicole Whittaker; grandchildren, Lauryn, Iliana, Ethan, Jack, Hazel, Jacob, Layla, Lucas, Lexi, Gemma; brother, Roland Whittaker; sister, Nancy (Vince) Baladad; brother, Rodney (Joy) Whittaker; and sister, Penny (Andrew) Tafoya.
Rick was raised in a military family and lived in Nebraska, England, Germany and Massachusetts before finally settling in Merced, CA in the 1960’s. He graduated from Merced Union High School in 1968.
Rick had a love for music, especially hard rock. This led him to his job managing a music store where he had the opportunity to go to many concerts. He eventually moved on and started a career at Foster Farms in 1975 working as a Packaging Supervisor. He was well known for being an awesome boss and being great with numbers. He retired after being with the company for 34 years. Ricks best times were riding his motorcycles, playing softball, snow skiing, car rides in the country, “Get the Led Out” at 7:00pm nightly on The Hawk, fishing, and riding his tricycle 15 miles daily.
Memorial services will be held at Allen Mortuary on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00 am, 247 North Broadway, Turlock, CA. Reception to follow at Great American Grill, 19920 First Street, Hilmar, CA.
