Richard Vernon Swanson, affectionately called “Pete” unexpectedly left his earthly body on Monday June 3rd, 2024 to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus.
He was the youngest of six children born to Carl and Dorothy Swanson. He arrived on August 25th, 1936 in Denair, CA.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Swanson and his children: Deborah Hendryx (Stephen) Turlock CA, Cheryl MacGregor (Steven) Denair CA, Tammy Doniego (Tony) Denair CA, and Dan Swanson (Kaycie) Keyes CA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pete was a loving husband to his wife Betty. Most of his early years were spent working on the family dairy. When he married Betty they moved to Petaluma CA, where he was employed by Petaluma Poultry Processors. It was during these years he began to faithfully follow and serve Jesus, with the love of his life, Betty.
Pete returned to his hometown of Denair during the 1980s. he worked for Carnation Genetics, earning employee of the month several times before retiring.
Pete was happiest when he was outside. He was an avid gardener, sharing his vegetables with family and friends. Each year he planted several rows of zinnia flowers to make Betty smile.
Enjoying a game of horseshoes, making our favorite homemade ice cream or dove hunting days were some of his most enjoyed family times. Pete was a gentle giant; a man of few words with a love for his family that will extend beyond time. He will be greatly missed.
Pete’s wishes were to not have a service of any kind. The family thanks you for your love, support, and prayers.
