Robert Arnold Statton August 1, 1928 - September 25, 2021

August 1, 1928 ~ September 25, 2021

Robert (Bob) Statton passed away peacefully at 93 on September 25th. He is survived by his three children; David, Linda, and Nancy. Bob was married for 68 years and is now joined with his loving wife Dorothy in heaven. They also enjoyed their 5 grandchildren; Van, Jenny, Joshua, Scotty, and Jess and had 7 great grandchildren.

Born in San Francisco to Wayne and Louise Statton. Bob lettered in several sports during high school. Upon graduation, he served in the army as a rifle instructor and was a veteran of the Korean War. After the war, He and Dorothy were married and raised their family in Fresno and the Bay Area.

Bob and Dorothy fulfilled a dream of working together by opening their family business, Hardi Gardens a retail garden nursery for over 25 years. They enjoyed a number of trips to Hawaii and various cruises. Longer trips were taken to Australia, where their daughter Nancy raised her family. They also traveled throughout Europe.

Bob enjoyed hunting, golfing, watching any sport, and was an avid reader. But his favorite days that he recalled were always family gatherings around birthdays and holidays. Till the end, Dad was the rock of our family. And for those that remain, we will continue to remember him and what he lived out that matters most”¦family.

Your dad was always sweet to me. He was so delighted when I brought him homemade desserts, no matter what variety and he told me they would disappear very quickly! I know it was very hard for him after your mom died, but he kept trying. He was always very grateful and gracious when I helped out with something and he typically apologized for being “a pain”. He was not a pain. Just an aging man with a hopefully good life behind him, who tried his best even when his body started to fail him. I will always remember his eyes lighting up for the desserts and his gentle voice and laughter. Rest easy, Bob.
