May 1943 – Oct. 2018
Retired Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Captain Robert Wilson passed away October 10th. He was the son of Preston and Lucinda Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and one sister. Also preceding him in death was the love of his life, his wife Leona. They were one month shy of being married 50 years.
Robert was born in Bakersfield and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma shortly afterward. The family eventually moved back to Lost Hills, California and then to Modesto. He entered the military at 17 years old in 1960. He rose through the ranks as 503rd MP Battalion, 3rd Armored Battalion MP Germany 1962 – 65, and Tacoma, Washington 4th Infantry MP. He served in Vietnam from 1966-67. His last duty station was Travis Air Force Base security from 1967-68. After an honorable discharge, Robert began working for Stanislaus Sheriff’s Department, which he loved. He worked through multiple divisions there. His favorite was being on patrol. He was employed there from 1968 until 1996.
Robert loved fishing, camping and golf. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters Kelly (Jerry) Monk and Shelly (Keith) Nelson and three grandchildren, Jordan, Justin and Madison.
A Celebration of Life will be held Oct. 21, 2018 at 11:00am at Allen Mortuary. Reception following at La Morenita Restaurant in Ceres, CA.
