Robert (Bob) passed away July 10, 2020 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, CA.  He was born in Rising Star, Texas to James and Edythe Lawton.  After living in Kansas City, MO the family moved and settled in Modesto.  Bob married Martha Perkins on February 13, 1949 and they had been married for 58 years, until her passing 13 years ago.

Bob served in the Army Air Corp in WWII.  He earned degrees in Math and Chemistry from University of the Pacific.

He worked in the food business his whole career, for frozen vegetable packers and the USDA.  Bob finished his career in Watsonville, Ca where he and Martha resided for several years after retirement.  They enjoyed traveling around the United States with their trailer and eventually moved to Jamestown, CA.  After Martha’s death Bob moved to Samaritan Village in Hughson where he lived for the past 8 years.  Bob enjoyed golf, volleyball, and bowling.  For many years he served as a lay minister for the Anglican church in Sonora.

Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patti and John Greer of Denair, CA, and his son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Diane Lawton of Willmar, MN.  He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren:  John Greer Jr. of Modesto, CA; Michael, Hillary and Emerson Greer of Bainbridge, OH; Christopher, Jennifer and Travis Greer of Capitola, CA; Rebecca Lawton of Willmar, MN; and Rachel, Dickson and Aubrey Centellas of Willmar, MN.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Martha; his parents, James and Edythe Lawton; his sisters, Betty Page and Eleanor Crosswhite; and two infant sons.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name may be made to Prodigal Sons and Daughters in Turlock, CA, or to the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, CA.

Allen Mortuary of Turlock is handling the arrangements.  A memorial service will be scheduled later in the Fall.
