November 28,1952 – January 23, 2022
Ronald Ivan was the firstborn son, delivered in Turlock, California, to John and Joyce (Pittman) Koftinow. Ron was a Boy Scout, a paper boy, an older brother who developed skills to become a problem solver, negotiator and devoted father. He served under President Nixon’s draft notice in the U.S. Army. After the Army, Ron returned to USF to complete his business degree. Later Ron returned to Turlock to work for Snider Lumber as a controller.
Beginning in 1980, Ron married Debbie Hall, passed the C.P.A. Exam, finished his Masters in business from CSUS, fathered daughter Sasha and son Michael, opened his C.P.A. practice, built a home, went on school field trips and continued his love of hunting. After long tax seasons, Ron would gather family and friends and travel to Molokai, Maui, Hawaii, Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Russia, France, United Kingdom and many other countries.
In the early decades Ron ran with the bulls in Spain, completed the S.F. Marathon, and participated in The Death Ride, which involved 103 miles cycling through the California Alps. He also went to 49er & S.F. Giants games, music concerts, and “the duck club”. This past August Ron, Debbie and friends returned to Germany.
Ron loved music, but his Sirius car channel knew only one station – Tom Petty. Almost every Friday he would share a guys group lunch with his Turlock friends and Sundays family would gather at Table 26 for lunch. He cherished family, friends, home and his Springer Spaniels.
Ron Koftinow passed Sunday, January 23,2022 in his home sitting in his favorite chair. His loving wife and Springers were with him when he lost his health battle. Lifelong friends Michael and Dana Schmidt and brother Dan supported Debbie with the transition of Sunday night. Friend Dennis Graspointner spent many January 2022 hours helping Ron and Debbie. Ron spent the weekend doing what he truly enjoyed — watching exciting football games, visiting with friends, and reading.
Ron is preceded in death by his father John. Ron is survived by his wife Debbie, children Sasha (San Francisco) and Michael (Tempe, AZ), mother Joyce (Turlock), brothers Daniel (Turlock) and Kevin (Modesto), nephews Chris (Utah) and Evan (Newman), cousins and many loyal friends.
A memorial service will be held at Allen Mortuary, 247 North Broadway, Turlock on Monday, January 31, 2022, 4:00 pm. A private burial will be held in February.
Ron’s charities included Veteran Associations, Teen Challenge, Friends of the Library, wildlife foundations, fire, sheriff & police, education, and everything that made community stronger. If donations are made in Ron’s memory, please select the organization of your choice to build a stronger community.

February 19, 2022 at 4:17 pmDear Debbie and family,
We are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Ron.
We always think of Ron with his quick smile and friendly way about him”always having time to engage in a conversation and the interest to ask how we are doing. Ron had a zest for life and always enjoyed describing the plans you two had for an upcoming European trip, always talking about his family, and discussing the issues of the day.
We feel fortunate to have known Ron and we will cherish our memories with him.
Ron was a prince, he loved his family and lived a full life. May you find comfort in the beautiful memories you shared with him.
We are thinking of you during this difficult time and our healing prayers go out to you in your time of deep sorrow.
With love,
Kay and Steve Fike
