On Tuesday, December 13, 2022, a beloved father passed away. Ruben was born in Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico to Jose and Maria Esparza. Ruben grew up in the ranch of Jomulquillo outside of Jerez and helped his family raise cattle. In young adulthood he migrated to the United States through the Bracero Program where he worked as a fieldworker and later as a construction worker. He modeled a strong work ethic and the desire to provide and make an honest living for his family.
While the US is where he settled for a large portion of his adult life, he also enjoyed traveling back to Mexico to visit his family. He also enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family, listening to romantic Mexican baladas and cooking.
He passed away at the age of 84. Ruben is survived by his children Matilda Esparza of Fremont, CA, Domingo Esparza of Mexico, Cinderella Torres of Portland, OR, Ruben Esparza of Modesto, Virginia Zamarripa of Merced, and Jerry Esparza of Newark, CA; sister Sally Esparza; 24 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by this son Joe Esparza.
Visitation will be held at Allen Mortuary on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 1:00-3:00 PM.
Rosary and Mass services will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 10 AM with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
