Socorro (Carol) Johnson February 3, 1940 - January 2, 2025

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Socorro (Carol) M. Johnson, on January 2, 2025, in Turlock after a brief illness. She was 84 years old.

Socorro was born on February 3, 1940, in Merced, California to Rafael and Esther Torres. She attended Livingston Elementary Schools and graduated from Livingston High School in 1958.

It was at Livingston High School that she and John Johnson met and became high school sweethearts. They were married on November 15th, 1958, and lived a short time in Turlock, then Snelling before settling in Delhi where they raised their six children.

She was a homemaker and worked part time as a Teacher’s Aide at Schendel School in Delhi, as she and John raised their six children.
Socorro enjoyed gardening and stargazing- pointing out constellations to her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid backyard bird watcher, and she especially enjoyed feeding doves and hummingbirds.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, an infant daughter Socorro, her brother Ralph, sisters Connie and Margaret, sister-in-law Lauretta, nieces Vivian and Esther, nephews Matthew and Paul, grand-daughter-in-law Denise, and great-grandson Cody.

Socorro is survived by her sons John (Terri), Chris, Joe (Donda), and her daughters Genny Caraveo (Bryan), Patricia Graves (Bill), and Elena Gutierrez (Lupe), along with 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 23rd from 5:00-6:00 PM at Allen Mortuary, followed by a rosary at 6:00 PM.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 24th at 12:00 noon at Sacred Heart Church in Turlock with interment immediately follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
