In Loving Memory of William James Young
November 19, 1961 – December 18, 2024
William James Young, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Maryland on November 19, 1961, William spent his early childhood in Pennsylvania before moving to California, where he built a life full of love, laughter, and accomplishment.
A man of intellect and determination, William earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. His career as a Certified Public Accountant began in California, then in Oregon, where he lived for five years before settling in Modesto, California, to continue his professional journey. After a dedicated career, William retired to enjoy the company of dear friends, including Peter and Elizabeth Sargent, in Stockton before eventually returning to Modesto to be closer to his cherished family.
William’s passions in life were as vast as the open seas he loved to sail. An ardent San Francisco 49ers fan, a lover of cinema, and a natural storyteller, he brought warmth, humor, and joy to every gathering. His quick wit and ability to see beauty in life’s smallest moments made him a beloved companion to all who knew him.
His greatest pride was his family. William is survived by his three loving children, Catherine Young, Thomas Young, and Peter Young, who were the anchors of his life. He was the proud grandfather of Charlie, Scotty, Violette Rain, Isabella Sky, Emelia, Mayana, Curtis, and baby Lilith, a beautiful blessing on the way. He is also survived by his devoted siblings, Laura Young and Margot Young Harding, who treasured the deep bond they shared.
William was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Phyllis D. Young and John William Young. Now, he sails into eternity to be reunited with them, greeting them with open arms and joy in his heart.
Though William has sailed beyond our sight, his spirit lives on in the waves of love he left behind. Until we meet again on distant shores, his memory will guide us, like the stars over an endless ocean.
A celebration of William’s life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor his remarkable journey and the joy he brought to so many. William’s memory will forever be a beacon of light in the hearts of all who knew him. Forever loved and missed!
